SECOND ANNUAL PERCUSSIVE DANCE EXTRAVAGANZA

The Second Annual Percussive Dance Extravaganza: Celebrating Fiddles, Feet, and Friends, presents another great assembly of musicians and dancers for a sumptuous evening of percussive dance, great tunes, and sweet songs. This year’s special guest is North Carolina fiddler Bruce Greene, a venerated collector and purveyor of Kentucky fiddle tunes. Along with his partner, Loy McWhirter, he’ll bring a wealth of Old Time tradition to the show.
This year’s show will include a few previously seen works, but most of the material is new choreography by Tamara Loewenthal, developed in the past year. Also new to the show this year is some English wooden shoe clogging and an English longsword dance (completely different from last year’s rapper sword dance). There is a wealth of Appalachian clogging (with probably 60 feet, but who’s counting?), with dancers ranging in age from seven to sixty five, truly multi-generational. Principal dancers are Tamara Loewenthal, Malke Rosenfeld, Marielle Abell, Mary Beth Roska, Julie Young, Cliff Emery, and Allana Radecki. Musicians will include Jamie Gans, Sam Bartlett, Cullen Strawn, Abby Ladin, Grey Larsen, Tim Moore, Cindy Kallet, and Curtis Cantwell Jackson.
A reminder - the date of the performance is Thursday, Feb 5, 2009 at 7:30pm in the John Waldron Auditorium. Tickets are $15 at the door. To order advance tickets, call (812) 333-3180; all advance tickets will be held as Will Call, at the door.
